How to Remove Recycling Bin Icons

In Windows operating systems, the Recycle Bin by default, is the only icon that is always on the desktop. The Recycle Bin stores files, folders and other components when you delete them from your computer. This enables you to retrieve components if you change your mind. If you prefer to leave the desktop free of all icons, you can remove the Recycle Bin.

      Right-click the "Recycle Bin" on the desktop if you are using Windows Vista. Scroll down the pop-up menu and click "Delete." The Recycle Bin is no longer on the desktop.

      Right-click the desktop if you are using Windows 7. Scroll down the pop-up menu and click "Personalize." A new window opens.

      Click "Change desktop icons." A new window opens. Uncheck "Recycle Bin." Click "Apply," and click "OK" to save the changes. The Recycle Bin is no longer on the desktop.
