How to Uninstall Fonts in Windows XP

In Windows XP, installed fonts can be used in system folders, icons and word processing programs such as Microsoft Word or WordPerfect. There are a variety of fonts, including Verdana, Courier New and Comic Sans that are found natively on your operating system. If you have downloaded fonts from the Internet or CD, and you no longer want or need them on your computer, you can uninstall them in a few easy steps.

Instructions

      Launch the fonts folder by clicking the Windows "Start" button, clicking "Run," typing "%windir%\fonts" (without quotes) in the open box and pressing "Enter."

      Select the font that you wan to uninstall from your hard drive. Select more than one font at a time by pressing and holding "Ctrl," and clicking each font that you want to uninstall.

      Click the "File" menu and click "Delete" from the pop-up menu. Click "Yes" in the confirmation dialog box.

  • Make sure that you are logged on to your computer as the administrator.
