How to Make a Webcomic Website
Creating an online webcomic is a very large and long-term project. So much time and effort goes into the story and art portion of the comic that learning how to create and maintain the website that showcases your comic may be a little overwhelming to an artist who is just starting out. The cost of the web hosting and domain may also be a little too much for a new webcomic. However, you can post your webcomic through free webcomic hosting sites and benefit from the webcomic community that these sites have already built.

1
Create a number of comic pages. You will want to be able to post at least three or four pages of your comic when you launch your website. This will give readers more than just your first page to read and help establish interest.
-
2
Visit the webcomic hosting sites to choose which community is best for your comic. Popular webcomic hosting sites include Comic Genesis, Comic Dish, Smack Jeeves and Drunk Duck. Each will offer different features, page templates and overall website feel.
-
-
3
Sign up for a free account with one of the webcomic hosting sites. You will need an email address to do this.
-
4
Create your new comic on the hosting site. You will usually find a button such as “Create New Comic” or “Add New Comic” on your account page. Some hosts will allow you to have more than one comic under an account.
-
5
Upload your webcomic pages to the hosting site, starting with the first comic page. Once you have posted pages to your host, the host will give you a URL for your webcomic that you can share with your friends.
-
6
Set an update schedule and continue to upload webcomic pages to build readership over time. You can also draw on the webcomic hosting site’s community by commenting on the host’s forums and on other webcomics to help develop interest in your own webcomic.
