How to Create Rain on a Window Pane

Create tiny drops of rain in a window pane.

Whether for a stage prop or a decorative craft, you can make permanent rain drops on a window pane that look like the real thing. Use the window pane as part of the scenery for a play or skit so that the rain drops become an inexpensive form of special effects. Alternatively, use an old detached window in a springtime craft project and add a few drops of rain on the window pane for detail.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean your window thoroughly with glass cleaner. Spray the entire surface of the glass and wipe it dry with a paper towel. You may need to do this twice for windows that are very dirty.

    • 2

Set your hot glue gun to high heat and allow the glue to melt.

    • 3

Point the tip of your hot glue gun at the areas of the window pane where you want to create rain drops and pull the trigger to release glue. To make small dots, quickly pull and release the trigger. To make long flowing drops, pull the trigger and hold it as you move the tip of the gun in the direction you want the drop to flow.

Allow the glue to cool and dry before touching it or moving on with your project. This will only take about three to five minutes.
