How to Make Easy Pagan Mala Beads
Mala beads are a pagan rosary used to help recite prayers or chants. They have strong roots in Hinduism and Buddhism, and bear many similarities to prayer beads of other religions. Although Mala beads are available for purchase online and in several pagan-based stores, making your own Mala beads add a level of authenticity to the product, and allows for more personalization.

1
Select a medium sized charm (about 1 to 2 inches in length) that you wish to include in your Mala beads. Choose a charm that represents your chosen deity, homemade charms and powerful gems work well. Once you have selected your charm hold it in the palm of your hand while you say a quick prayer to center yourself for the task at hand.

Separate 54 of your beads into a pile, string them onto your leather cord, keeping your mind focused on peaceful thoughts and prayers. Do not knot the end of the string, and be sure to keep hold of it so your beads don't fall off.

3
Add your pendant to the leather cord, do not tie or use stopper beads to keep in place. Your pendant and beads need to be able to slide freely on the cord.
-
4
Add the remaining 54 beads, keeping your mind focused on peaceful thoughts as with the first 54. Tie the two ends of your cord together leaving 1 to 2 inches of free space between the beads and the end of the cord. Use scissors to snip off any excess cord.
-
5
Burn frankincense in shallow glass dish and close with one last prayer. Pass your completed Mala beads through the frankincense smoke to bless them.
