A wet wipe is a small paper towel-like wipe moistened with water and a cleaning agent. The cleaning agent varies from one product to another, sometimes because of the intended cleaning use of the product. Wet wipes are available to clean the hands, diaper area, furniture and other surfaces, according to USA Today. Remove any solid waste from the surface you are cleaning with the wet wipe. For example, if you are cleaning a table with the wet wipes, remove any large pieces of food on the table.

Brush off any small particles, such as crumbs or dirt, if they will scratch or irritate the surface as you clean it with wet wipes.

Wipe the surface with a wet wipe. If the surface is very dirty, change wet wipes often. When you are done with each wipe, throw it away. Use circular motions when you wipe or straight lines, whichever is more comfortable. Allow the surface to dry thoroughly before placing any items on it. If you are wiping your hands, let them dry before you eat anything with them.

Wet wipes for hand-cleaning are suitable to use if your hands aren't dirty. However, if you have chemicals or other contaminants on your hands, you must wash them.
If you are cleaning an eating surface or food preparation area with the wet wipes, use sanitizing wet wipes appropriate for food surface uses. Also, avoid cross-contamination of the surfaces by using a clean wipe for each surface. Never use a wipe on a raw food surface and then on a prepared food surface.
