Instructions

    • 1

Examine the sink to ensure it is clean and dry. Wipe it with a soft cloth if necessary. Sand the scratch that you are fixing and the surrounding area to help the repair blend in better. Make sure the area is smooth after you finish sanding.

    • 2

Dampen a cloth with rubbing alcohol, and wipe the sanded area clean of any debris. Wait for the area to dry.

    • 3

Mix a small amount of high gloss alkyd-based paint with the porcelain repair compound, using the tongue depressor or wooden dowel on the piece of glass or tile to stir it. Start with a small amount of paint, adding more as needed to match the color of the porcelain.

    • 4

Scoop up a small amount of the mix with the razor blade and apply it to the middle of the scratched area. Spread it out so it covers the entire sanded area. Scrape off the excess compound with the razor blade so the area is smooth. Wait for it to set for about 1 hour.

    • 5

Soak the cotton swab in the fingernail polish remover, and wipe it on the edges of the compound mixture--the area that meets the un-sanded surface, which helps the compound blend in with the other parts of the porcelain. Wait for it to dry for 24 hours before using the sink if the area is in the basin of the sink where it gets wet.
