How to Unlock a Jenn-Air SEG196

The Jenn-Air SEG196 oven was designed with two types of oven locks to prevent injury. The first is an automatic oven lock, which is a safety feature employed by the oven when it reaches 550 degrees. The second is an oven lock lever, which allows the user to manually lock the oven door.

Instructions

1. Check the control panel of the oven to see if the “Oven Lock” light is illuminated. The “Oven Lock” light turns on when the oven reaches 550 degrees. This most often occurs during self-cleaning mode.

2. Turn the oven knob to the “Off” position if the “Oven Lock” light is on, and wait for the “Oven Lock” light to turn off. The “Oven Lock” light will turn off once the temperature in the oven drops below 550 degrees.

3. Press the lock lever on the front of the oven to the left to unlock the oven door, if the lock lever was engaged.
