How to Install an HP Deskjet 3320 Printer
The HP Deskjet 3320 color inkjet printer is a dual-cartridge printer that prints using both black and color ink. It is ideal for home and small office users who have a need for true black printing and good color presentation from a printer that doesn't take up a lot of space on their desks. Installing an HP Deskjet 3320 isn't difficult, generally requiring half an hour or less to accomplish. Most of what is needed to install the Deskjet 3320 comes packaged with the printer, though you will need to supply your own USB cable.
Things You'll Need
- USB cable with "A" and "B" connections (standard USB cable for printers)
- Power cable
- Driver installation disc (or downloaded driver files from the HP website)
- 2 ink cartridges (one black, one color)
- Printer paper

1
Place the printer on a level surface and open the top cover. Pull the paper tray down to allow access to the inside of the Deskjet 3320. Remove the packing material inside the printer.
-
2
Plug the power cord into the back of the printer, then plug the printer in. Push the green power button, making sure that the green light on the printer comes on to indicate that it has power. If the light doesn't come on, make sure that the power cord is fully inserted into the printer's power slot.

3
Place paper in the paper tray, sliding the paper guide over to ensure that the paper is in the correct position.

4
Remove the ink cartridges from their packaging and remove the pink tape strips that cover their nozzles. Insert the black ink cartridge into the right compartment of the ink cartridge cradle, making sure that the copper strip faces down and into the cradle. Repeat this process for the color cartridge on the left side, then close the top cover of the printer.
-
5
Insert the driver installation disc into your computer, allowing AutoPlay to launch the installation program. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the printer software, connecting the printer to the computer with your USB cable when prompted to do so by the program.
-
6
Print a test page when prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to properly align the print heads of your Deskjet 3320 printer. You will need to identify which of the test patterns printed properly so that the driver software can choose the correct printing configuration for the newly installed printer.
