Instructions

    • 1

Place you potted ficus bonsai indoors, preferably near a window that receives plenty of sun.

    • 2

Keep the indoor temperature above 60 degrees Fahrenheit.

    • 3

Water the ficus enough so that the soil stays damp. Do not allow the soil to dry out completely.

    • 4

Trim new growth during the growing seasons (spring and summer) by clipping new growth shoots at the base with pruning sheers. Consider the look and shape that you desire, and cut foliage accordingly. Unlike some bonsai species (such as the Juniper), foliage should not be "pinched" off.

    • 5

Use a basic, natural plant food once a month during the growing season.

    • 6

Re-pot the bonsai once every two years. When re-potting, trim the roots to make a nice compact root system. Keep the the freshly potted ficus out of the sunlight for a week or two to help the trimmed roots acclimate themselves to their new pot.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not keep a ficus outside for more than a couple of hours.
