Instructions

    • 1

Draw two circles next to each other either vertically or horizontally, depending on the pose that you would like to see your animal in. It is alright if the circles overlap or are a bit spaced out. The circles do not have to be perfectly shaped either; the lines are not that important and will be erased later. This will serve as the basic abdomen of your animal.

    • 2

Add a smaller circle to represent the head of your animal above the two larger abdomen circles. Placing this circle depends on how long you would like to see your animal's neck. If you are creating a giraffe or a horse, placing a circle further up from the abdomen circles would be more appropriate. If you are making something with a shorter neck, like a bird, then place the head circle lower and closer to the abdomen circles. If your animal has a protruding snout, add another slightly smaller circle near the circle that will be representing your animal's head.

    • 3

Begin adding more circles around your animal's abdomen to serve as their legs. Make sure to use three circles for this to represent their shoulder joints, their knee joints and their ankle joints. You can choose how you would like your animal's legs to be posed depending on the placement of the leg circles. If you want it to look like your animal is running, then move the circles away from their adjoining circles slightly.

    • 4

Begin tracing the various circles using lines to construct your animals. This will serve as an outline. Certain lines are better suited for animals, like thick legs for an elephant and thin legs for a deer. The same goes for the abdomen and neck of your animals.

    • 5

Add ears, a nose, feet and a tail. These details are important as they can be the determining factor as to what your animal is. If you are uncertain as to what type of features to add to your animal, consider doing a bit of research to get an idea of what the shapes are. Finally, erase the circle lines that helped you create the animals. Add eyes and small details (like spots or whiskers) to help in making a more distinguished animal. Feel free to color in your creation or leave it as is. You have completed your very own drawn animal! Try creating more animals by using various circle sizes, poses and features.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use light pencil marks as they are easier to erase.
