How to Transfer VHS to DVD on an Insignia DVD Recorder
Dirt, dust and humidity can ruin VHS tapes, so it is important to transfer your home movies to DVD as soon as possible. Insignia DVD recorders allow you to transfer your VHS home movies to DVD. Transferring is very simple and is a good way to ensure that your movies are safe for years to come.

Insert a blank DVD into the DVD tray.

Insert the VHS tape into the VHS slot.

Use the play, rewind and fast forward buttons to find the spot of the VHS tape that you would like to begin recording from. Press the pause button when you have located the spot on the VHS tape that you would like the recording to start from.

Press the button labeled "Dubbing" from the remote control. The Dubbing menu will appear on the screen. Use the up, down, left and right arrows to navigate through the options. Select your record mode from the options of EP (six hours), LP (four hours), SP (two hours) or XP (one hour). This should typically be one setting past the actual length of the VHS tape. For instance, you if have a tape that is three hours in length, you will choose the LP setting.

Scroll to the "Dubbing" button in the Dubbing menu and press enter to start the recording process.

Tips & Warnings
Once the DVD is finished burning, you must finalize the DVD in order to watch it in other players. This is done by pressing "Setup" on your remote, scrolling down to "Disc Settings," selecting "Finalize" and then selecting "Start."
