Fruity Loops is a simple-to-use, musical-sequencing program that can be controlled by a Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) keyboard. A MIDI device sends instructions from a trigger, in this case a keyboard, to the computer and the computer records the data, which is then played back as a musical sound. When using a MIDI keyboard with Fruity Loops, you will be able to record music you play on your keyboard in real time. Fruity Loops will convert the audio into MIDI notes on a sequencer that you can later edit.

Create a new MIDI track and select a sample. Strike the keys on your keyboard. You should now hear sound and are ready to record.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your computer does not have a MIDI input, you must buy a MIDI keyboard that connects via USB, or a "MIDI to USB" converter.
