Use coffee beans to create a Christmas ornament.

Coffee beans are usually associated with a warm cup of joe. However, these small, dark brown-colored beans can also be used to decorate craft projects. If you have a coffee lover on your gift list or you're a java aficionado yourself, creating a coffee bean Christmas ornament will look festive hanging on a tree and smell good, too.

Instructions

    • 1

Paint the Styrofoam ball with brown acrylic paint and let dry. Dry time typically takes five to ten minutes.

    • 2

Place glue on the bottom of the ornament cap using the glue gun. Stick the ornament cap anywhere on the ball. This will be the top of your ornament.

    • 3

Place glue on one of the long sides of a coffee bean. Stick the coffee bean on the ball, vertically, near the ornament cap. The coffee bean should be lying flat. Continue gluing coffee beans around the ball in a circular pattern around the ornament cap.

    • 4

Start gluing the next row of coffee beans directly below the row you just completed. Continue gluing the beans around the ball, row by row, until the ball is completely covered. Let the ornament dry; typically, this takes about 20 minutes.

    • 5

Spray acrylic sealer on the ornament.

    • 6

Glue the gold tassel to the bottom of the ornament, placing it directly opposite of the ornament cap.

    • 7

Tie a bow using the 1-1/2-inch-wide gold ribbon. Glue on the top of the ornament, directly in front of the ornament cap. Using scissors, make V-shaped cuts on each end of the bow.

    • 8

Loop the gold cord through the ornament cap's hanger. Tie the ends to make a knot.

Tips & Warnings

  • Create coffee bean Christmas trees by gluing the beans to cone-shaped Styrofoam pieces.

  • Use larger or smaller Styrofoam balls to create your desired ornament size.
