How to Wash a Polyester Comforter
Polyester is a durable fabric that washes well in warm water, but the size of your comforter may not fit well into your home washing machine. Taking a large comforter to the dry cleaners can be expensive. There are ways to deal with washing the comforter so that it lasts you for many seasons on your bed. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Read the care label on your polyester comforter. Even though the outside fabric may be suitable for cleaning in a washing machine, the filling may not be. If the care label states that it is machine washable, check the recommended water temperature and how best to dry the comforter. If the label says the comforter is "Dry Clean Only," do not risk ruining the comforter by trying to machine-wash it.

Locate a laundromat near your home. Unless your comforter is for a twin size bed, it probably will not fit very well into your home washing machine. If the comforter does not have ample room in the washer, it won't get clean. Laundromats have large washers and dryers made to handle items like comforters, sleeping bags and drapery.

Purchase a gentle washing detergent and avoid any that contain bleach. It may cause spotting on the fabric.

4
Dry your comforter on the lowest heat setting available.

Tips & Warnings
Sleeping with a top sheet between you and your comforter will prevent you from having to wash it as often.
Avoid eating or drinking while sitting on your comforter. Stains can be hard to remove from polyester fabrics.
