The CD player in your Honda vehicle should give you years of trouble-free performance. Honda uses an integrated anti-skip sensor inside their CD players so that you can enjoy your favorite CDs while driving in less-than-ideal road conditions. However, over time, the CD player may malfunction or wear out from normal use. Replacement CD players can be purchased from Honda or from aftermarket manufacturers specializing in vehicle audio equipment. Before replacing anything, however, you should troubleshoot the CD player to make sure that it is the problem and not the CD.

Step 1

Turn the ignition key to the "II" position on your Honda to operate the accessory components.

Step 2

Turn the CD player on by pressing the "On" button on the player. If the CD player won't power on, you may have a blown fuse.

Step 3

Open the fuse panel underneath the steering column and use the fuse diagram on the underside of the fuse cover to locate the fuse for the radio/CD player.

Step 4

Pull the fuse out of the fuse panel using the fuse puller mounted in the fuse box.

Step 5

Check the metal strip inside the fuse. If it is broken or burned, then replace the fuse with a new fuse of the same amperage. If your CD player still does not power on, then the CD player unit has malfunctioned and needs to be replaced.

Step 6

Insert a CD into the Honda CD player. If the CD skips or has trouble playing, eject the CD. If you are able to power on the CD player, insert the cleaning CD from a CD cleaning kit into the player. The cleaning CD will gently clean the lens on your Honda's CD player. If you are having trouble playing CDs after this point, the laser in the CD player may be weak or malfunctioning, which will require replacement of the player. If your CD player only skips while driving, the anti-skip feature of your CD player may be damaged or malfunctioning. You will need to have the CD player serviced by Honda.
