How to Clean the Print Head on a Brother Mfc 3360C

The Brother Industries’ Multi-Function Center, model 3360C (MFC-3360C) is an all-in-one inkjet printer that offers not only printing, but also copying, scanning, faxing and PC faxing. As with any inkjet printer, the Brother MFC-3360C has a print head that requires regular cleaning. Although the MFC-3360C automatically cleans the print head, users may need to clean the print head manually to remove a build-up of ink between cleanings that can cause horizontal lines and/or other blank areas in text or images. To clean the print head manually, you simply need to use the printer’s control panel.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your Brother MFC-3360C printer by pressing the “On/Off” button near the Multi-Function Center (MFC) logo on the top-right side of the printer’s control panel.

    • 2

Press the “Ink” button near the left-bottom corner of the central number keypad.

    • 3

Push the up or down arrow menu keys at the right of the central keypad to select “Cleaning” on the LCD and then push the “OK” button.

    • 4

Scroll through the next menu on the LCD with the up and down arrow menu keys and select an option (“Black,” “Color” or “All”) and then press the “OK” button to confirm your selection. If done correctly, your Brother printer should clean the print head and then return to its standby mode when finished.

    • 5

Print a test document to check the print quality. Repeat the manual process to clean the print head up to five times if necessary. If you still have poor print quality, contact Brother—email Brother Support, use the online Brother Authorized Service Center locator (see Resources) or call Brother customer service toll-free 877-BROTHER (877-276-8437) or 800-284-3238 (TTY for hearing-impaired).

Tips & Warnings

  • Never manually clean the print head more than five times as cleaning the print head wastes ink and you likely have an issue that requires professional assistance or repair from Brother’s trained customer service and technical support representatives.

  • Never attempt to repair your Brother MFC-3360C on your own by disassembling the printer or handling the print head. Not only can you void any warranty, but also you can permanently damage the print head.
