How to Make a Paper Slingshot

How to Make a Paper Slingshot thumbnail
A slingshot can be made out of paper.

Slingshots are typically created from twigs or branches, but they can also be created from paper. Making a paper slingshot allows people who do not have access to branches to make a working slingshot. By rolling and treating paper products, you can make a usable slingshot that children will love to play with. You can use any type of rolled paper, but toilet paper or paper towel rolls will be more sturdy and will last longer than regular paper.

      Roll the paper.

Cut open two toilet paper rolls with scissors. Open up each roll, then begin to roll them up lengthwise. Roll the papers tightly. Once rolled, tape the edges of the rolls to secure them into place. Place the rolled pieces together lengthwise. Wrap three to four rubber bands around the rolls, leaving about 3 inches free at the top of each roll. Separate the free ends slightly to create a fork.

Squeeze around 4 to 5 tbsp. of craft glue into a bowl. Cover the end of a paintbrush with the glue, then paint the glue onto the device. Allow the glue to dry completely, then apply a second coating to the entire device. Make sure to coat the tips of the rolls with glue. Allow the glue to dry completely.

      Attach the rubber band.

Cut open a heavy weight rubber band, creating one long rubber band piece. Tie knots into each end of the rubber band. Slip the rubber band over the fork, inserting it into the slits. The knots will prevent the rubber band from slipping off of the fork. You can now use your rolled paper slingshot.
