How to Send a File to Fax

Faxing a file for free is a simple process. Unlike receiving a fax, which requires a phone number and the purchase of a fax machine, sending a fax online simply requires a working computer and an internet connection. There are free sites available that will help you to send a fax. Three of them are; FaxZero, MyFax and PopFax (See Resources).

How to Fax From Your Computer

1. Navigate in your favorite browser to one of the websites above.

2. Enter your personal and/or business information, a text message for the "cover sheet," and an email address for notification.

3. Enter the fax number to which the document will be sent, along with the recipient's name and business name if applicable.

4. Attach (upload) the document you'd like to fax. Most of these fax sites require the document to be in a .doc or .pdf format. PopFax offers a copy/paste option if the file is not in one of these formats.

5. Click "Send Fax" or "Submit."
