How to Make a Crossbow Out of Popsicle Sticks

You can use Popsicle sticks for many different craft activities, such as in making craft houses, puppets and a craft crossbow. Although real crossbows can be very dangerous, you can use craft crossbows to shoot harmless items, such as crayons, candy or sponge-tipped arrows that you can make from tooth picks.

Instructions

Squeeze a dollop of hot glue to the end of one Popsicle stick. Place a second Popsicle stick on top of the hot glue so that you have created one long stick. Allow the glue to cool completely. Place a third Popsicle stick perpendicularly onto the first Popsicle stick, and glue it into place using hot glue. Allow the hot glue to cool completely.

Place the Popsicle device you have created onto a table. Push two small tacks into the perpendicular Popsicle stick, one onto each end. Cut open a thick, heavy-weight rubber band, and tie one end onto each tack. Stretch the middle of the rubber band back until it reaches the end of the second Popsicle stick, and clamp it into place with a paper clamp.

Place two toothpicks together, end to end, and glue them into place with hot glue. Cut out pieces of sponge and glue a sponge piece to the end of the toothpick. Repeat this process until you have created a few toothpick arrows. Insert the end of a toothpick arrow into the area of the rubber band that is clamped, then release the clamp to shoot the arrow across the room.
