The easiest way to tie a necktie is the four-in-hand knot, the standard method that is both simple and fast. This style pairs well with a pressed shirt and either a casual or business suit; it's neat without being too fussy. No one will ever call you a stuffed shirt with this easy knot.

Instructions

1. Put the tie on around your neck with the wide end on your right side.

2. Cross the wide end over the narrow end, then turn back underneath. The underside of the wide end will be facing out.

3. Cross the wide end back over the narrow end so the right side of the wide end is facing out.

4. Bring the wide end up, back to front, and through the loop around your neck.

5. Loosen the knot in front, then pass the wide end down through the knot. Pull down and straighten the wide end.

6. Tighten the knot around your neck if necessary. Tuck the narrow end through the small tie loop on the underside of the wide end (if there is one) to keep both ends of the tie together.
