How to Donate Cut Flowers to Nursing Homes
People in nursing homes need to feel special and loved. Unfortunately, family and friends do not always visit as they should, and the senior citizens feel neglected. Some may not have relatives nearby. If you just held an event with fresh cut flowers or you have a garden with an abundance of flowers, consider donating them to a nursing home. Donating flowers to a nursing home is warm gesture that will brighten the day of an elderly person.

Call nursing homes. Call nursing homes in your area to see whether they accept donated flowers. Sometimes nursing homes need flowers for special occasions or just for patients who do not receive flowers.

Make sure you have enough flowers Verify how many bouquets you need donate to make sure you have enough flowers on hand. Arrange a time with the nursing home when you are are going to drop off the flowers.

You don't need alot of flowers to make a pretty bouquet. Make bouquets from the cut flowers. Place just three or four flowers in a vase if you have to make alot of arrangements but may not have enough flowers. Tie a ribbon around the vase for a classy finish.

This can be an ongoing project for you. Partner with a flower shop that discards unwanted flowers. They can give you the flowers instead of throwing them away.
Donating flowers to nursing homes would be a good community service project for high school and college organizations.
In addition to donating flowers, see whether you are allowed to visit with some of the patients.
You can purchase inexpensive vases and ribbon from dollar stores.
