How to Make Insecticide From Boric Acid Powder

Insects can cause damage in your home or garden.

Pesty insects in your garden or in your house are a nuisance. Ready-made insecticides contain chemicals that you may not want to have around young children or pets. Use supplies from your home and local grocery or hardware store to make your own safe insecticide. Treat the infected areas and you will soon be free of annoying insects in your home or garden.

Things You'll Need

• Boric acid powder
• Measuring spoons
• Spray bottle
• Measuring cups
• Water

Instructions

1. 

   Measuring spoons come in handy when mixing cleaning solutions.

   Measure four tbsps. of boric acid powder into a plastic spray bottle using your measuring spoons.

2. Add one cup of hot water to the boric acid. The hot water helps the boric acid powder to dissolve.

3. 

   Spray bottles make great applicators.

   Place the spray top on the spray bottle and shake the bottle to mix the solution.

Tips & Warnings

• Insecticide used in areas that are not washed or cleaned will work for up to a year.

• Keep your insecticide away from children. It is safe for them to be around the solution but you do not want children to get the solution in their eyes or mouths.
