DIY Cable TV Installation
There may come a time where you need to reconnect your cable TV hookup. This may be due to moving around the configuration of the entertainment center or to a cable connection simply falling out. Although the actual process of running the cable into your home from the outside requires a service technician (they are the only individuals with legal access to the outside cable hookup), you can perform the interior cable installation yourself.
Things You'll Need
- Cable receiver
- Coaxial cable
- Component video cables
- RCA audio cables
- TV
Instructions

1
Attach the coaxial cable running into your room from the wall to the "In" port on the cable receiver.
-
2
Insert the component cables into the "Component Out" ports on the cable receiver. These are the video-only connection cables and are green, blue and red (make sure each colored cable connects to a port of the same color).

-
3
Attach the free ends of the cables into the "Component In" ports of your television.
-
4
Plug the RCA audio cables into the "Audio Out" ports of the cable receiver (found next to the "Component Out" ports).
-
5
Connect the opposite end of the audio cables into the "Audio In" ports of your television.
-
6
Power on the TV and the digital cable receiver. Press "Video" on the TV's remote control, select "Component Video," and the cable television programming will appear on the screen.
