Add MP4 videos to iPod with iTunes alternative software.

Add MP4 videos to your iPod without iTunes using a free iTunes alternative. iTunes software alternatives allow users to plug in an iPod, drag and drop videos into the software queue and add them to the iPod quickly, eliminating syncing and authorization hassles on iTunes. These programs also manage iPod songs and enable users to delete videos and music from the device. Always exit iTunes before opening an alternative freeware, as these programs cannot run simultaneously.

Instructions

  1. Add MP4 Videos with CopyTrans

    • 1

Open CopyTrans Control Center and select "CopyTrans Manager (Free)." (See Resources for link.)

    • 2

Plug the iPod into the computer using the USB cable designed specifically for the device. The device will automatically appear in the left panel of CopyTrans.

    • 3

Click the "Add tracks to playlist" button at the top of the window. Navigate to the MP4 video or videos on your computer. Select "Open" to insert the video.

    • 4

Select the "Update" button at the top of the window and wait for CopyTrans to sync the files. The progress bar at the bottom indicates how much time is left before all files finish copying. The process takes a few seconds for one or two songs while it can take over a minute for entire albums or large file quantities. When the progress bar is completely full, the process is complete.

    • 5

Eject the iPod using the "Eject" button at the top left of the window.

    Add MP4 Videos with SharePod

    • 7

Open SharePod (see Resources for link) and select the "Copy to iPod" button at the top of the window.

    • 8

Use the "Add Files" or "Add Folder" buttons to navigate to MP4 videos from your computer. Select the files and press "OK." Confirm the copy operation by pressing "OK" again when prompted. Again, the process takes a few seconds for a few files or over a minute for large file quantities.

    • 9

Eject the iPod using the "Eject iPod" button at the top of the window.
