How to Write a Business Plan for a Car Detailing Business

A business plan is an integral part of establishing a successful car detailing business. Whether you are using it to seek financing, test the feasibility of your idea, or to provide a daily operating guide, a well crafted plan will set you firmly on the path to success.

1. Write a mission statement for your car detailing business. State why you decided to establish it and the goals you hope to achieve over the first few years. Include sales figures, market share, and such details as how many cars you expect to service in any given week.

2. Write an overview of the business. What detailing services will you offer customers? Are you opening a franchise or an independent agency? Are you seeking financing or funding it yourself?

3. Create a competitor assessment. Identify all of the other car detailing shops within a 25-mile radius. Prepare a detailed profile of each competitor. Include his strengths and weaknesses, opportunities you may have to gain market share from him, and any threats he may pose to your business.

4. Write the marketing plan. Be specific about the types of services and products you will offer your customers. Include any service packages, a price list,and different marketing strategies and tactics you will use to get customers in the door.

5. Create an operating plan. Detail the inner workings of the organization. What is the management structure? How many employees will you have? What special equipment or resources will you need to operate on a daily basis?

6. Create a financial plan. Describe your current financial state. Detail your new business's estimated profit potential and projected earnings over the next two to four years. If you are using the plan for financing purposes, describe the type of financing you are seeking and the amount required.

7. Write your executive summary. Go over the main points of the business plan, including management structure, funding, profit forecasts, goals, products and markets, .
