How To Obtain New York State Incorporation Records

Obtaining incorporation records in the state of New York is a fairly straightforward process that should only take a few minutes to complete successfully. If you would like to check and make sure when and if a business was legally incorporated in the state of New York, there is an online database that can provide you with the information that you need. Any business that has filed for and has been approved for incorporation in the state will appear in the database.

      Open a web browser and navigate to the New York State Department of State Corporation and Business Entity Database's website.

      Enter in as much information as you can about the corporation in question. The screen will prompt you for the following information: the entity's name, the type of name (whether the business is currently active or not) and whether or not what was entered is the partial or whole name of the company.

      Click the "Search the Database" tab at the bottom of the screen. If the corporation in question was incorporated in the state of New York, it will appear as part of the search results.
