How to Make an Airhorn
No matter if you are at a sporting event, hosting a children's birthday party or simply want to be noticed, the noise make by an air horn will get everyone's attention. Purchasing an air horn from the store can cost as much as $20---but by keeping some basic guidelines in mind, you can make one at home for under $5.

1
Punch a small hole in the bottom of the 35mm film canister using a sharp knife or pair of scissors. Make sure the hole is not too large---you can always make it bigger, but if you make it too large initially the air horn will not work, and you will need to find a new canister.
-
2
Push the straw through the hole into the film canister, making sure it fits snugly. Use the knife or scissors to punch another hole into the opposite end of the canister (the one with the lid).

3
Cut the balloon in half along the crease. Carefully trim the piece of rubber until it is slightly larger than the film canister.
-
4
Remove the lid from the canister, and cover the outside edge of the cover with the balloon. Pull the balloon snugly against the canister cover, and place the cover back onto the film canister.
-
5
Push the straw through the hole on the "bottom" end of the canister (without the lid), until it hits the balloon. Blow air through the straw---you can adjust the loudness of the air horn by changing how close the straw is from the balloon. The closer the straw to the balloon, the louder the air horn.
