Borders set an image apart from the rest of the document and add contrast to the picture itself. Paint Shop Pro, a popular Web graphics program, makes adding borders easy.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Start Paint Shop Pro and open the image that will have a border.

  2. Step 2

Locate the color palette on the left hand side of the screen. Click on the bottom square and select a border color from the palette. Click OK.

  3. Step 3

Select Add Borders from the Image menu. A dialog box will open.

  4. Step 4

Check Symmetric if you want all of the borders to be of equal size.

  5. Step 5

Choose the size of the border by typing a number or using the up/down arrows. If the borders are symmetric, the remaining numbers will change automatically.

  6. Step 6

Click OK and view the picture. If the results aren't what you want, select Undo from the Edit menu.

  7. Step 7

Choose Save As from the File menu to save the new file.

Tips & Warnings
  • You will only be able to select a border color from the number of colors in the picture. For example, a grayscale picture will only allow you to select a border in a shade of black, white or grey.
  • Before editing a picture, save the file under a different name by selecting Save As from the File menu. This allows you to edit the picture without worrying about the original.
