How to Restore and Show Desktop Icons in Windows 2000

There are certain icons on your Windows 2000 desktop that are known as "system" icons. These are icons like the "My Computer" icon, the "Recycle Bin" icon and the "My Documents" icon, among others. If any of these icons have disappeared from your desktop and you didn't want them to, you can easily restore them and show them again by going through the desktop customization properties window built into Windows 2000.

      Click "Desktop."

      Click "Customize."

      Select the desktop icons you'd like to restore from the list on screen. Once you're finished, click "Apply" and then "OK" to return those selected icons to your Windows 2000 desktop.
