How to Clean a Delta Sink Drain
Delta is the brand name of a company that manufactures faucets, fixtures and plumbing for bathrooms and kitchens. The method for cleaning a Delta sink drain is essentially the same as the process for cleaning other brands of sink drains. Drains need to be cleaned periodically because odors will develop either from clogs in the drain or from the repeated use of a garbage disposal. Cleaning the drain is a simple process. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Make sure your disposal is off and insert your hand into the drain to remove any large leftover food items. Turn the water on in the sink and run the disposal to try to eliminate any debris that may be lingering in the sink drain.
-
2
Run steaming hot water down the drain. Bacteria often cause a bad smell, and the hot water can kill that bacteria. Either let your hot water run until steam rises from it, or pour boiling water down the drain.

3
Pour a teaspoon of baking soda into the drain and continue pouring the steaming hot water down the drain for 15 seconds more.
-
4
Pour one cup of vinegar, bleach or lemon juice down the drain and let the liquid sit for half an hour before rinsing with hot water. Any of those liquids are known to eliminate odors and/or bacteria. Bleach should be used only in a well-ventilated area.

Tips & Warnings
If your sink does not smell clean after these steps, you can buy a drain un-clogging solution at your local grocery or hardware store. If the drain is still not clean, you may have a clog farther down in the plumbing of the sink, or your garbage disposal may be to blame.
