How to Clean a DVD Lens for Cheap

Dirty DVD lenses can cause skipping and may even prevent DVDs from playing at all. Lens cleaners are relatively cheap, and they're sold at most electronic stores. They usually consist of a disc with a small brush that cleans the lens while spinning in the DVD player. Try a lens cleaner when experiencing a disc read error to avoid unnecessary repairs or replacements.

Instructions

1. Turn on your TV and DVD player.

2. Apply a small amount of liquid cleaner to the cleaning disc's lens brush if necessary. Open the DVD player and insert the disc face down.

3. Play the disc and follow the instructions on the screen. It may indicate skipping or fast forwarding, depending on the manufacturer. Allow a few minutes for the disc to finish cleaning.

4. Remove the disc when the cleaning process is finished. Put the disc back in its case and save it for future use.
