How to Clean a RV Roof Vent
The roof vent of a recreational vehicle offers an opening for improved air circulation. Vents have a plastic or fiberglass cover that is translucent and allows some extra light into the camper. The vent is attached to the camper by a hinge on the front edge of the vent. A screen prevents insects and other items from entering the camper interior when the roof vent is open. This screen is what usually requires cleaning.

Tips & Warnings
Take time to check the roof when cleaning the vent. Accumulations of sap and other debris on the roof can shorten the life of the roof. Use cleaning supplies appropriate for the roof surface to clean the roof.
Some roof vents include an electric fan to improve ventilation. Avoid getting cleaning products on the electric motor. Use caution when climbing on the roof of the camper.
