Reading the Basic Lines of the Palm
-
1
Look at the life line. The life line extends from the base of the thumb, near the wrist, and usually curves around to above the thumb. A strong, unbroken life line indicates good health. Breaks in the line may indicate illnesses. Islands or "bubbles" in the line can show difficult times in one's life and are usually found near the top of the thumb.

Look at the heart line. The heart line is at the top of the hand below the fingers. A straight heart line shows even temperament in matters of the heart. If the line curves up toward the index finger, it can indicate that the person has a physical approach to love. A heart line that reaches to the outside of the palm under the index finger shows a romantic view of love. A heart line with a split at the ends shows a balance between the romantic and physical.

Look at the head line. This line is located between the heart and head lines and crosses the palm. A long head line that dips down toward the outer side of the palm shows great intellect and deep thinking. A short head line may indicate that matters of the heart and emotions rule the person's personality. Breaks in the head line may indicate times when a person was not thinking clearly.

Look at the career line. The career line crosses the palm from the base near the wrist and works its way up to in between any of the fingers. If the career line is strong and unbroken, the person has a strong work ethic. If it is broken, the person may have a tendency to change jobs, uncertain what he wants to do with his life.

Look at the love lines. These tend to be everyone's favorites to hear about. These lines occur just below the pinkie finger. The number of lines indicates how many deep loves the person has had. Lines crossing the love lines often show children or beloved pets.

Let the person whose palm you are reading know this is for fun and is not to be taken too seriously. Palm reading is an old practice, but has no scientific basis. It is mainly a way to enjoy exploring personality traits and to stimulate conversation.
