How to Remove a Download Accelerator

Download accelerators are browser programs that enable you to accelerate the speed when downloading content. They are especially helpful for slow network connection speeds such as dial-up. If you are no longer using your download accelerator program or running into frequent errors with the program, you can uninstall it safely without damaging browser components. Uninstall your download manager program using a few simple steps and guidelines.

Instructions

1. Print or write these directions down because you have to close your web browser. Close any open programs.

2. Click the Windows "Start" menu and select "Programs" or "All Programs." Select your download accelerators folder and click "Uninstall" to launch the uninstall wizard. Follow the guided prompts to complete the uninstallation. When prompted, restart your computer.

3. As an alternative, click the Windows "Start" button and choose the "Control Panel." Click "Programs" and choose "Programs and Features" if you are using Windows Vista or 7. This launches the programs window. If you are using Windows XP, double-click "Add or Remove Programs" to launch the programs window.

4. Select the download accelerator program you want to uninstall from the programs window. Click "Remove" or "Uninstall" depending on the operating system that you are using. When prompted, confirm that you want to uninstall the download accelerator. Once the program uninstalls, restart your computer.
