Instructions for Money Corsages

Instructions for Money Corsages thumbnail
You can use money to make a beautiful corsage.

While some people find money to be a cold, impersonal gift, money is sometimes the most thoughtful gift, particularly when the recipient is starting a new phase of their life. Money can be the perfect gift for a newlywed couple, a student embarking on his first year of college or for anyone who is going to have multiple expenses in the near future. However, you don't just have to fold cash inside of the front cover of a greeting card. Instead, by creating a veritable money corsage, you'll not only make something creative, but show the recipient you put a lot of time and thought into the item as well.

Things You'll Need

  • 15 dollar bills

Instructions

    • 1

Lay a dollar bill in front of you horizontally. Fold it in half so that the left side meets the right side and a vertical crease runs through the middle of the bill.

    • 2

Unfold the dollar bill and turn it over. Roll the top-right corner around a toothpick, rolling the toothpick inward until it hits the center mark of the right side. Repeat with the lower-right corner and then the two corners on the left side.

    • 3

Cut a 12-inch piece of floral wire and sandwich it inside of the dollar bill so that the wire is right up against the middle vertical crease.

    • 4

Bring the ends of the floral wire together. In order to do this, you're going to have to squish the crease of the bill somewhat, folding it. Twist the pieces of floral wire once they're together to hold them in place. Your dollar bill should now look somewhat like two rose petals on a stem. Set it aside.

    • 5

Repeat this process four more times until you have five stems of curled dollar bills. Gather them all together and arrange the dollar bills so that they look like a blossoming rose. Twist the stems together in order to hold it in place. You now have a money rose.

    • 6

Create two more money roses by repeating these steps. Once finished, arrange the roses into a small bouquet and add some stems of silk leaves.

    • 7

Wrap floral tape 1 to 2 inches down the wire stems. Cut a piece of ribbon 8 inches long. Wrap the ribbon around the structure and tie it in a bow.

    • 8

Turn the piece over and dab a small dot of hot glue to the back. Attach a pin backing and glue it in place. Cut away the excess pieces of floral wire.
