How to Throw Blue Shells Without Item Boxes in Mario Kart DS

Mario Kart DS has blue, red and green shells.

In "Mario Kart DS," the blue/spiny shell is the most lethal and dangerous shell in the Mario Kart universe. These shells only hit the first-place driver, although it is always a direct hit and everybody near the target gets hit as well. Due to their rareness, only the seventh- or eighth-place driver will receive the blue shell, unless you have cheat codes. Action Replay DS, or AR, will give you the ability to use the blue shell without picking up an item box.

Instructions

1. Buy an AR at your local video-game/electronic store. Plug the AR into your Nintendo DS, then place your "Mario Kart DS" cartridge into the AR. Turning on your Nintendo DS will bring you to the AR main menu.

2. Insert the first blue shell cheat code. Press "Add New Code," then enter the name of your cheat code. Name the cheat code "X -- Blue Shell", press "Next" and then enter this cheat code without the quotation marks: "923d629a", "0000400", "6217bc2c," "00000000", ""b217bc2c", "00000000", "2000004c", "00000007", "20000054", "00000001", "d2000000" and "00000000". Press the green asterisk to save and activate the cheat code.

3. Insert the other blue shell cheat code. Add a new cheat code; name it "L -- Blue Shell", then press "Next" and enter the following cheat code without the quotation marks: "923d629a", "00000200", "6217bc2c", "00000000", "b217bc2c", "00000000", "2000004c", "00000007", "20000054", "00000001", "d2000000" and "00000000". Press the green asterisk to save and activate the cheat code.

4. Race and use the blue shells. While racing against other drivers, press "X" or "L" to use the blue shell.
