How to Paint Warhammer Figures

Customize your Warhammer figures with paint.

Warhammer is a war game played on a tabletop using small plastic figures. Painted figures are sometimes available for purchase, but many Warhammer figures are sold unpainted so players can add their own colors and details to personalize the figures for their campaign. The process of painting your Warhammer figures is not complicated, but it can be difficult due to the small size of the figures.

Things You'll Need

• Utility knife
• Spray paint
• Paint
• Paintbrush
• Toothpick
• Straight pin

Instructions

1. Gently remove any excess bits of plastic or rough edges from the figure with a utility knife.

2. Apply a thin coat of spray paint designed for use on plastic surfaces to the figures and let the paint dry completely. Choose a spray paint in the dominant color of your planned Warhammer figure design.

3. Apply acrylic or enamel paint onto the figures with a small paintbrush. Use one color at a time, and allow each color to dry completely to avoid smearing the colors together.

4. Add intricate details to the Warhammer figures by applying paint with a toothpick or a straight pin.

Tips & Warnings

• Use all enamel paints or all acrylic paints on your Warhammer figures. Do not mix and match acrylic and enamel paints because they may not properly adhere to each other, which could cause flaking on your finished Warhammer figures.
