How to Microwave Foodsaver Bags

Foodsaver bags can be microwaved

Foodsaver appliances allow the user to vacuum-seal food for the freezer with no fear of freezer burn. Removing the air from the bag also helps food stay fresh longer. Foodsavers can also be used for dry foods, such as for backpacking trips or even pre-measured amounts of baby formula to toss into the diaper bag. Heating foods stored in a Foodsaver bag is a simple task if done in the microwave.

Things You'll Need

• Microwave plate or shallow bowl
• Scissors or sharp knife

Instructions

1. Place the bag on a microwave-safe plate or in a shallow bowl.

2. Cut one corner from the bag. Alternatively, you can make several slits using a sharp knife in the top of the bag.

3. Microwave on full power until the food is piping hot and ready to eat.

Tips & Warnings

• You can use this method to defrost foods stored in a Foodsaver bag. Adjust the power of your microwave to "defrost" instead of high.

• You can also cook food in a Foodsaver bag on the top of the stove. Place the sealed bag in a pot of boiling water and cook until the food is done.
