A dent in your stainless-steel refrigerator can detract from an otherwise pristine appliance. However, in many cases, these dents can be easily removed without the hassle of contacting the manufacturer or paying to have it repaired. Dry ice can pop out a dent easily and efficiently.       Pick up dry ice with clamps.

      Touch the ice to the dent for several seconds before retracting the ice. Repeat the process until the dent is gone from the refrigerator.

      Wipe with a damp cloth and, using a separate, clean cloth, butt the spot to shine.

Tips & Warnings

  • You should be able to find dry ice in many places, including the supermarket. As of April 2010, 1 lb. of dry ice often cost $2 or less.

  • If the dent will not pop out after repeated attempts, it may be necessary to contact the manufacturer to purchase a new panel for the refrigerator. Another option is to contact a body shop about a paint-less dent remover.

  • To dispose of dry ice, unwrap and leave it sitting at room temperature in a well-ventilated room. It will convert from a solid to a gas.

  • Always be careful when handling dry ice and wear protective cloth or leather gloves when you will be handling it, as prolonged contact will cause injury.
