How to Save YouTube Files As a MP4

Saving a YouTube video to your hard drive is astonishingly simple. While YouTube itself does not allow you to do this, free alternative tools to do so abound online. With only a few clicks, you can convert a YouTube video to MP4 format and save it to your hard drive.

Instructions

1. Open your web browser and go to the YouTube video that you wish to download. Copy its URL, which isthe line of text found near the top of your browser window.

2. Go to keepvid.com. Paste the URL into the text field, and click the "download" button. This will run an online Java applet: give it permission to run if your computer asks for confirmation.

3. A number of download links will appear, allowing you to save the video in various formats and levels of quality. Click ">>Download MP4<<" to save the file to your hard drive.
