How to Switch Bootcamp Partitions

Bootcamp is a utility provided by Apple for their Intel-based Macintosh computers. Bootcamp allows the user to install Microsoft Windows on a separate partition on the Macintosh's hard drive. This ability eliminates the hurdle of any PC-user thinking of making the switch to the Mac OS X operating system due to incompatible software. The Intel-based Macs can run both. Once you've installed Windows on your Mac OS X computer, you must log out and reboot to launch into the second operating system.

Instructions

    • 1

Select "System Preferences" from the "Apple" menu while logged into Mac OS X. Select "Startup Disk" within System Preferences. Click on the partition you would like to boot into next time you restart the computer. Exit out of System Preferences. When you restart the computer, the system will boot into the selected partition.

Select "Control Panel" via the Windows "Start" menu. Select "Startup Disk." Select the partition you would like to boot into upon next reboot. Select "OK" to save your preferences and exit the Control Panel. When you restart the computer, the system will boot into the selected partition.

Restart the computer and hold down the "Option/Alt" as the computer starts up. The available boot partitions (Windows and Mac OS X) appear. Use the arrow keys to select the desired partition, and hit "Enter" to boot into that particular partition.
