How to Replace a Bay Window
Bay windows are often the most replaced windows in our homes. This is not because they're made any differently than traditional windows, but because they stick out from the home. They are not protected by the roof and are more subject to damage. Replacing a bay window is not too challenging even for do-it-yourselfers, but it will take more than one person to complete the job.

3
Install the bottom frame of the new window kit. Tightly secure support braces to the home. Consider the size of the window. Use two braces for a window 4 feet wide or smaller. Use additional braces for larger windows.
-
4
Place the new window onto the support braces. Have a friend position and hold the window into place. Use shims to make certain the window is in the exact position it needs to be.
-
5
Secure the window to the support braces. Use a drill to tighten screws. Place the screws approximately 6 to 8 inches apart.
-
6
Install the roof frame. Use a drill to tighten the screws of the frame to the home as well as the bay window.
-
7
Apply caulking around the exterior of the window. Use a silicone caulk to ensure no water can leak into the window edges.
-
8
Apply trim to the interior of the bay window, using nails and a hammer. Position the trim to cover all screws.
