Metal case for a bobbin.

The Pfaff Company began in 1862 and, while continually introducing new and improved machines, focused on the industrial market. In 1957 Pfaff entered the consumer sewing machine market. In 1979 the company developed a freely programmable automatic sewing machine. Today there are dozens of Pfaff models in use, from basic sewing machines to overlock stitching machines.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the accessory compartment work support box.

    • 2

Open the cover on the free-arm piece.

    • 3

Grasp the metal bobbin cover casing by the latch with the thumb and forefinger of your left hand and gently pull it out. Turn the casing so the latch opening points down.

    • 4

Place the threaded Pfaff bobbin in your right hand, holding it so 2 inches of unwrapped thread unspools from the top away from you.

    • 5

Place the threaded bobbin in the metal bobbin casing.

    • 6

Grasp a loose length of thread and pull it into the slit on top. Continue pulling the thread toward the top of the casing until it slides into the hole. When this is done correctly, you can pick up the entire bobbin by the loose thread and both pieces will stay together.

    • 7

Return the bobbin casing to the machine, holding it by the latch and gently pushing it into the housing.

    • 8

Holding the needle thread tightly, turn the machine's hand wheel toward you until the upper thread pulls out the bobbin thread. Separate the threads and pull about 3 inches of bobbin thread out.

    • 9

Close the cover of the free-arm assembly and replace the accessory box.

Tips & Warnings

  • Your Pfaff sewing machine should be turned off when you are threading the bobbin.
