How to Connect a Coaxial TV to an Audio Stereo Receiver

The coaxial cable connection is the audio and video cable connection for television equipment. Although most televisions have multiple cable connections for output devices, you might have only one cable connection, such as the coaxial cable. However, most surround-sound receivers only have one RCA audio input, forcing you to convert the coaxial cable to RCA.

Things You'll Need

• Coaxial cable
• Coaxial to RCA audio cable adapter
• RCA audio cable
• Audio stereo receiver

Instructions

1. Plug the coaxial cable into the "out" port on the television.

2. Attach the free end of the coaxial cable into the "Coaxial In" port on the adapter.

3. Insert the RCA cable into the "RCA Out" port on the adapter.

4. Plug the RCA audio cable into the "RCA In" port on the receiver. Power on the audio receiver if it is not currently connected.

5. Power on the stereo and choose the audio connection you have with the coaxial cable.

6. Press "Play." You should now hear the audio through the digital audio connection.
