How to Remove Vomit Stains From a Mattress
A sick pet or a child with the flu can easily make an unintentional mess on a bed, especially during the middle of the night. Vomit can be rather disgusting and difficult to clean from a mattress, but you need to act fast when removing the stains. Older stains can be much more difficult to remove. Though vomit stains can be hard to clean, by following a few simple and inexpensive tips, you can save your stained mattress from a trip to the dumpster. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 1/2 cup white vinegar
- 1/2 cup water
- Spray bottle
- 1 cup baking soda
- Scrub brush
- Fan
- White towels
- Vacuum

Absorb as much vomit as possible with white towels. Sprinkle 1 cup baking soda over the stains and leave overnight. The baking soda will absorb any extra moisture and remove the odor from the mattress.

Vacuum the baking soda from the mattress. Combine 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup white vinegar in a spray bottle and spray the stains. Use a scrub brush and scrub the stains until they are removed. The vinegar will help remove the stains and neutralize the odor.

Move the mattress outdoors to dry in the fresh air. If it is not possible to move the mattress outdoors, point a fan at the mattress and let it dry.
