Instructions

    • 1

Prepare the soil for planting. Rake to loosen the sandy soil while taking out any rocks or sticks that may impede growth. Once loose add in up to a 6-inch layer of compost that will help the soil hold moisture.

    • 2

Purchase and use a grass seed designed for sandy soil. Use a lawn spreader for even distribution of seeds. These seeds will be predisposed to hold moisture, aiding growth. Do not over-seed; follow the directions on the seed package to determine the appropriate amount.

    • 3

Water the seed daily for the first three to four weeks. Dampen the soil but do not allow water to puddle as this will drown the seeds.

    • 4

Spread a granular weed-and-feed product with a lawn spreader three to four times a year to ensure growth and health of the lawn.
