Instructions for Making Headbands
Headbands are a popular accessory for girls and women of all ages. Not only do headbands serve as a fashion statement, but they conveniently keep the hair out of the eyes, making them ideal for sports or windy days. While headbands can be purchased in any store that sells fashion accessories, they are often expensive and uncomfortable to wear. Fortunately, inexpensive fabric headbands are easy to make at home. If you have basic sewing skills and a few sewing supplies, you can make a handmade headband in a matter of minutes. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Jersey knit fabric
- Fabric scissors
- Thread
- Sewing machine
- 1/2-inch wide elastic

Cut out a rectangular piece of fabric that is 23 inches long and 3 inches wide.

Fold the fabric piece in half (right sides facing each other), bringing the longer edges together.

Sew the long edges of the fabric piece together, leaving the short edges open to form a tube of fabric.

Cut a piece of elastic 20 inches long. Thread the elastic through the fabric tube, gathering the fabric as you go.

Sew each end of the elastic to the corresponding edges of the fabric tube. Sew the two ends of the headband together to form a loop.
