Correct Java issues to enable Pogo in your Web browser.

Pogo is a free, advertising-supported gaming website operated by Electronic Arts. With only a few exceptions, all of the games on Pogo are played in a Web browser, through the Java browser plug-in. Though the plug-in works correctly in most cases, problems can arise if you use an outdated version of Java, do not clear your browser cache, or have not enabled Java in your Web browser. Once you understand the proper steps, correcting any one of these problems becomes a quick task.

Instructions

  1. Update Your Java Installation

    • 1

Click the Windows "Start" button and select "Control Panel."

    • 2

Double-click the "Programs & Features" icon in Windows Vista or Windows 7. Double-click "Add/Remove Programs" in other Windows versions.

    • 3

Locate Java in the list of installed programs and single-click its name. Select "Uninstall" in Windows Vista or Windows 7, or "Remove" in other Windows versions. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove the software from your machine.

    • 4

Open a browser window, log onto the Java website (see Resources), and click the "Free Java Download" button.

    • 5

Click the "All Java Downloads" link.

    • 6

Click the link containing the words "Windows" and "Online." Select "Run" when prompted by Windows.

    • 7

Click "Install" when the Java setup screen appears to install the software. If prompted to install additional, optional software (e.g., Yahoo Toolbar), place a check next to the name of any software you want to install alongside Java, and then click "Next."

    • 8

Click "Close" after the setup process completes to close the installer program.

    • 9

Close all open Web browser windows. The Java plug-in should function correctly the next time you launch the browser.

    Clear Your Browser Cache

    • 10

      Open a Web browser window.

    • 11

Click "Tools" in the top menu bar.

    • 12

Select "Delete Browsing History" in Internet Explorer or "Clear Recent History" in Firefox.

    • 13

Click "Delete Files" in Internet Explorer 7. In Internet Explorer 8, check the "Temporary Internet Files" box and click "Delete." In Firefox, select "Everything" from the drop-down menu, check the "Cache" box, and then click "Clear Now."

    Enable the Java Browser Plug-in

    • 14

Click "Tools" in the top menu bar.

    • 15

Select "Manage Add-ons" in Internet Explorer or "Add-ons" in Firefox.

    • 16

Locate the Java browser plug-in, single-click its name, and click "Enable."
