How To Establish a Small Business Name in New Jersey
If you are establishing a small business in New Jersey and you plan on operating that business under a different name other than your own, then you will have to register that name with the proper authority. If you are a sole proprietorship or a general partnership, you will have to register the trade name with the county in which you conduct business primarily. If you are a corporation, a limited liability company or a limited partnership, then you will have to register with the state's Division of Revenue.
